My daughter is a college freshman this year. She is planning to go on a spring break trip to Florida with a bunch of her girlfriends. I am really worried about her starting to go off on trips without any parents or any “adult” presence with her. Granted, she is an adult legally, but there are just so many things that can happen. It is really hard to let a child grow up and make their own mistakes. She is definitely at the age where you can’t tell her anything. She just thinks I am an old woman from the dark ages. Well, let me just say this old woman has been around the block and does know a few things. I have tried to make her aware of some concerns that I have, and she seems to have an answer for everything. I asked her what she would do if she has a flat tire, and she said the girl she is riding with has AAA so they would just call them to come fix it. Then I asked her about her friend’s beach house. I wanted to know if it was in a safe area. She said to not worry about that because they had a security system they got through home security Florida. Obviously they had discussed that already since she had an answer for that one. I guess I am just going to have to trust her instincts. My baby girl is growing up.

When I found out that my mom wasn't planning on fixing an apple pie for Thanksgiving this year, I just knew that was unacceptable. I simply had to do something about this! I'm definitely by far the person who's travelling the farthest for the holiday festivities, so I had been told to just enjoy the food and not worry about contributing anything. Well, I knew that I definitely wanted to contribute some apple pie.

But I'm not sure if I've ever fixed pie in my life before, so I looked online with my clear wireless internet to see if I could find a simple enough recipe for it. I found all different types of recipes and even though I think that it's going to be a bit of a challenge for someone who's never cooked pie before, I guess there are harder things that I could have decided on fixing for the meal.

I told my parents about my plan for the apple pie and my mom said that she would help me fix it if I was having trouble.

Living in Montana, the countryside is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I are avid hikers, so we go hiking and camping all of the time. I recently bought a bunch of new camping gear for my husband for his birthday, and he absolutely loved it. Using Montana wireless interent serviceI often do my shopping online. The closest mall is about a two hour drive from us, so shopping online makes much more sense. Because my husband and I camp so often, much of our gear had become worn out over the past few years. I got him a new sleeping bag and a new four-man tent, which the two of us use. Two-man tents are not really big enough for two people in my opinion. There is a small river about an hour drive from our house, and we will go often to camp, fish, and hike along the river. My husband really enjoys fly fishing, and he has become very good at it. I have not quite gotten the hang of it yet, but he has been teaching me how to do it properly. He is definitely the master fisherman in our family, but somehow I am always the one that ends up cooking the fish. I guess I have to pull my weight somehow.

With so many shows on tvbydirect.com there are many personalities that are played over and over again. Dexter played by Michael C. Hall is not one of these personalities. The creators really hit a home run with Dexter and found the perfect actor to portray the character of Dexter. Michael C. Hall does an amazing job acting as a man who has no feelings such as love or sympathy and is a very convincing sociopath. Although Michael plays a serial killer I cannot help but to be pulled in by him and feel sympathy towards his circumstances on the show. When I first started watching the show I did not really like Michael C. Hall as an actor, and his character rubbed me the wrong way. This is understandable since people really should like or feel sympathy for a serial killer. By about the 4th episode Michael had completely drawn me into his life and character as Dexter and I have been hooked ever since! I initially became addicted to Dexter and Michael C. Hall by renting the DVDs when I did not have cable, but I ended up subscribing to Satellite TV so that I could watch the new seasons of Dexter. I look forward to the new episodes every week!

Out of all the times that I've moved in my life, I've actually enjoyed packing because it makes me imagine how all of my things will look in my new place. Of course then once I actually have to unpack all of that stuff as part of the move, which is most definitely the less glamorous part of the whole process.

But, it wasn't as bad packing up and moving this time because I bought a house and was moving into it! So I'm definitely planning on staying there for as long as possible. I was switching over all my utilities to it before the actual move when I came across some information about energy rates with ShopElectricityRatesTexas. Not only were you born an original, but if we take into consideration and add to the package your habits, and tastes, and idiosyncrasies, and adventures, and experiences, and talents-skills-&-abilities, and … etc., we uncover a unique individual. You are THE ONLY YOU, the one and only, not just presently, but since the dawn of time.

Out of the billions of people* that have come and gone, there is not and has never been, another you. And there never will be, even if we could travel in time to the year 50,000. That makes you, and me, and each of us, SPECIAL. Unique, and special. That’s what Wally Amos wrote in Watermelon Magic: “Each of us is unique and special. No two sets of fingerprints are the same. So enjoy and appreciate your uniqueness. You are a priceless collector’s item.”

That’s what you are; a collector’s item, an original masterpiece, NOT a paint-by-number reproduction, not a “copy.” So please, I implore you, don’t die a copy, and don’t live like one in the interval.

Trust me on this one, I know it’s hard to march to your own music, do your own thing your own way, but you must do your very best to do so! It’s your assignment here on planet Earth. As Zig Ziglar wrote, “You are the only one who can use your talents and abilities; it is an awesome responsibility.”

In Julius Caesar, Marc Antony urged his contemporaries to “Keep your friends close to you. Keep your enemies even closer.” For me, the worst enemy I have is the cookie-cutter, the tool used to make everything the same. As an author, a network marketer, and an internet marketer in a very competitive market, that same-old, same-old would spell “disaster.” And as a person, that would spell “boring.” I just can’t have that.

So, like Marc Antony, I keep my worst enemy really close. I have a cookie-cutter hanging from the ceiling over my worktable—when I write, it’s dangling in front of me, inches from my face. When I go out to places where I’ll interact with people, I take it with me, carrying it in my pocket so it’s always near. It is a constant reminder to not be like everybody else, but to be ME. Ralph Waldo Emerson sure agreed with this when he wrote; “Insist on yourself; never imitate. Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another, you have only an extemporaneous half-expression.”

My reader friend, let me reiterate something Useful for U to keep in mind. It is a Universal truth on which all the biologists and psychologists agree Unanimously, and say to U in Unison: U, my friend, are Unique in the Universe! It’s a fact. Therefore, Uniqueness and originality are the order of the day, and Uniformity is out! U are not a Unidimensional being, but a multi-faceted one, with many Usable skills and talents. So Unite those gifts with your many creative thoughts and Use all U’ve got to come up with something special and unUsual. And U’ve got plenty. There’s no need for U to Usurp other people’s ideas, or try to emUlate them. Just be U!

I’d like to make a recommendation, if I may. I’ll use “we, us, our” so it’s not just for the reader, but for myself as well. Let our lives not be a painting-by-numbers, but let it be an Irises by Van Gogh, or maybe the label of a soup can by Andy Warhol. It doesn’t really matter, as long as it’s U-nique. Let our lives not be like generic elevator “musak,” but let’s make sure it’s more like Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Dave Brubeck’s Take Five, or The Who’s Baba O’Riley,

Let’s create something that is U-nique. Let our passage on earth be a masterpiece so that when we leave here to go to the next realm, we can look back at our life and see an exquisite canvas in a big beautiful ornate frame and say “Wow! Would you look at that! That was ME! That was MY life! I did that. I painted that. Wasn’t I something?”

12 Steps To Turbo-charge Your Visualisation

1. Every night, half an hour before retiring, go to your room, where you can be entirely alone and as remote as possible from noise and distraction.

2. Seat yourself in a wide and comfortable chair, or, better still, lie down on your back at full length. See that your clothing is loosened, so that you will suffer no distressing annoyance on this account. Compose yourself as if for sleep, assuming a position of restfulness, abandon and utter relaxation. Close your eyes, letting the lids rest lightly on your cheeks.

3. Shut your mind resolutely against every form of bodily sensation. Forget for the time that you are encumbered with a body.

4. Bar out of your consciousness every memory, every thought of the past.

5. Build a mental picture of the thing you want to have, to do or to be - the one thing that you immediately desire first and most of all. By this we mean nothing indefinite. We do not refer to ultimate aims that can come only as the result of long periods of effort. We mean something specific, something that can be yours tomorrow, something that in itself constitutes the next step in your chosen career.

6. See yourself finding the ways and means of realizing your desire, overcoming obstacles one after another, all the obstacles that can possibly arise. See yourself called upon to display, and displaying, alertness, promptness, courage, confidence, resourcefulness, patience, push, enterprise, expert knowledge, insight, shrewdness, tact, self-control, decision. See yourself face to face with the situation that confronts you in real life and manifesting the qualities and doing the things necessary to your purpose. Put yourself body and soul into this picture. Multiply details. Rivet your mind upon it.

7. Advance step by step, logically, wisely, consistently, to the climax of the drama. See yourself winning out. See yourself solving the problem, getting the thing you want, acting the part you desire to play. Detach your spirit from the flesh of this world and incorporate it in the mental image of yourself. Live the victory mentally until a sense of its reality permeates your soul.

8. Make your dream picture as delightful as possible. Dwell upon it with joyful satisfaction. Warm your heart with a feeling of thankfulness that that which you have so long desired is really yours. This feeling of gratitude, this emotional element, will bring forth associations that will give life to the picture and will animate your faith. Keep yourself tight shut in this dream world for at least fifteen minutes.

9. Arise and make your preparations for the night. Then upon retiring once more close your eyes and let your mind dwell upon your vision for five or ten minutes or until you fall asleep. Let it be the last thing in your thoughts as you become unconscious.

10. Every time you are awake during the night call the mental picture before you and keep it in consciousness as long as you remain awake.

11. In the morning, immediately upon awaking, repeat the procedure set out in the third, fourth and fifth instructions.

12. The more of your spare time you spend in this way, the more promptly will you actualize your ideals. By repeated concentration, every detail of the image of your desire will be so deeply engraved upon your mind as to exert an influence throughout the day. It will inhibit wasteful emotions and impulses. It will give you poise and self-possession. It will so inspire you with its promise as to awaken an energizing response in the profoundest depths of your subconsciousness.

Finding Ways To Save Time And Accomplish More Toward Goals

A definition of time management might be a process of gaining flexibility and cutting back time. The advantage to having a time management plan is that we are loosing something that brings us reward and gaining something that brings us bigger rewards. We end up with a “no loosing” situation if our time management plan is right.

To develop a successful time management plan we must first evaluate our time. We must sit down and ask ourselves how long does it take us to eat? How long does it take us to get dressed and groom for work? How long does it take us to prepare the meals we have to eat? Everything we do takes a certain amount of time. You might start out by writing down just how much time it takes to do each of your very have to tasks each day.

Then sit back and evaluate your list. Are you wasting 10 minutes here and there on those have to items that could be used for something else?

Where our time goes is an essential element to determine for our entire time management plan if we want to begin spending more quality with the most important people of our lives and less wasted time on some routine task. This is the absolute first step of creating your own personalized time management plan, a time management plan that will allow your more time to do the things in life that are most important to you. You must determine where you are wasting time and then decide how to use that time more effectively. Once that time is lost, there is no calling it back.

Another important element of creating a successful time management plan is to be sure and finish tasks before moving onto another task, unless you are at work, in a job that requires doing multiple tasks at one time (multi-tasking). Once you finish one task, move onto the next task and follow in pursuit of finishing all tasks. Once you finish the last task, sit back for a moment in a comfortable position and think of what you accomplished. How much time did it take you to complete task? Don’t forget to be keeping down your start time and end time. Of course this type of listing time of tasks works best for those things you do as routine each day. You want to work on completing the tasks in as little time as possible so you that you have to add in the unexpected tasks of the day or…….much better…….so that you have time to do something you really, really want to do, something that is not routinely required of you to do. For example, like visit on the phone with a favorite friend, your daughter or mother, or whoever, read some in the books you want to complete at some point or another in your lifetime.

A successful time management plan provides us with a source for more flexible schedules. When we have flexibility we have more time for ourselves. Once you have determined your priorities for time usage, then you can start adding tasks that you been putting off because you just don’t have the time to do them.

So….you now need another list of goals and plans of tasks and things you want to do but never have the time to do. One of the best ways of keeping these lists is on your computer where you can quickly erase and add to. But then again, paper in a notebook is also good, perhaps a special book.

Time management is the process of working to succeed. When we work to succeed we reach our goals. We first have to decide what those goals are, of course, and then work toward them using our time management plan. You will probably have to sit down and really ponder on what is needed to reach each goal of set of goals, and of course, decide how much time each step of the way you will need. Some people like to set short term goals, reach that goal and then set a long term goal. It might be a better plan to try and set short and long-term goals in the same time management plan. Whichever way works best for you, however, is what you should do.

Time management is essential since it demands that a person plan, act on those plans and stay focused on those goals with motivation. You must also keep reality in mind, and plan for the things out of your control that could go wrong and therefore steal time from your time management plan. Some examples would be computer failures, family illness, personal illness, inches and inches of snow and ice, horrible sudden tornados and hurricanes. It is always wise to include elements of your time management plan in accordance to what could happen out of your control. You may want to have a plan ahead of time of using your time in some other manner if your computer fails. Catch up on your paper filing or something. Right now for me, I am experiencing an internet outage. I have groomed many more Shih Tzu than the usual today in the time I usually spend answering e-mails and working on my websites.

Time management is working to succeed. If you want to succeed then you must work hard every day to meet your goals. I recently cut down my preparing and eating breakfast time by about ten minutes. Instead of my usual meal, I now mix up a Zone Shake and drink it while doing some other chore like adding to or emptying out the dishwasher, or even while opening up my daily e-mails. In reality here I am using ten extra minutes to work on my goals, rather than preparing and eating a regular breakfast.

Most people are aware of the fact that Google™ is by far the most important search engine in the world today. Many webmasters have also heard that having other websites post links to your website should improve your rankings in the search engines, especially in Google™. This is certainly true. The problem is that many webmasters do not know the correct way of soliciting links from other sites.

Why is it important that other sites link to yours? It can be seen as a sort of confirmation that one site values the content of another site. When you find a site on the net that is useful because it has good content that you are interested in you normally save it as a favorite. The same principle applies to website links. The more sites link to your site the higher the perceived value of your site on the net and that has a direct impact on your site’s ranking.

There are many sites on the internet that exist for only one reason and that is to show webmasters how they can improve their search engine rankings by using SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques. I do not want to comment too much on SEO sites except to say that although there are some very good SEO sites on the net I have found most of them to have no value at all. However, one thing that most SEO sites agree upon is the importance of having incoming links to your site in order to improve your site’s rankings in the search engines.

I am often surprised at how many people follow the advice of SEO sites on how they can improve their site’s ranking in Google™ without even considering what Google™ has to say on this topic. Nevertheless, Google™ is very clear on the importance of incoming links.

Take the time to read the “Webmaster Guidelines” issued by Google™. You can find these valuable guidelines at www.google.com/support/webmasters and then click on “Webmaster Guidelines”. They are very clear.

In principle, links should come from sites with content that is relevant to your own site. It can be similar or complementary. These sites should link to your site because they find your site’s content valuable and consider it to be useful for their own visitors

There are mainly two ways of soliciting links from other webmasters:

The one is by looking for sites with content that is relevant to your own site and requesting these webmasters to post a link to your site. You normally need to give them your site’s title, website address and a short description of what your site is all about in order for them to consider adding your link on their site. It is normal that they often request you to first post a link on your site linking back to their site (and provide them with the link address to verify you have placed the link) before considering linking to yours. Many of these sites will invite other webmasters on their home page to link to their site or inform other webmasters that they are open to exchange links (called reciprocal links) with suitable sites.

The above method is the correct method of getting other webmasters to link to your site. I like to refer to is as the straight and narrow road – Not always easy and certainly time-consuming but the best method.

The second method that webmasters often use to get other sites to link to them is to visit so-called “link farms”. These sites normally place adverts like: “Get thousands of other sites to link to your site for the low price of only $ 10”, or “Exchange links now with thousands of other sites”, etc. Sounds good? Sure it does. It is the easy way. However, it is not the correct way. The intention of these sites is to mislead the search engines by creating the impression that your site is very popular. Companies like Google™ are fully aware of these “tricks”. They will know if you get your incoming links from link farms and these type of links will certainly not help your site’s credibility as far as search engines are concerned. Avoid link farms at all cost!

Please note that not all webmasters are prepared to exchange links. Some of the very popular sites receive so many requests to exchange reciprocal links that they either refuse to post any new links or insist that your site must have a certain Google™ page rank before they will consider exchanging links. Some of these sites will even charge you a monthly fee for having your link on their site. Do not get discouraged. There are many good websites that will gladly exchange links with your site at no cost.

In case you are wondering, Google™ ranks website pages from 1 up to 10, where a page rank of 10 is an indication that Google™ considers it as very important. Most website pages on the internet do not have a page rank at all. It takes time to get a page rank. It can take years to get a high page rank. There are many sites that offer a free page rank checker. I can recommend www.prchecker.info. Try to exchange links with sites that have a high page rank, at least higher than your own website’s home page. Having incoming links from “important” sites are always an advantage.

Lastly, it is easy to check how many sites are linking to your site. Once again there are many sites that offer this service for free. I can recommend www.webmaster-toolkit.com.

Do not try to convince too many sites to exchange links with your site. Take your time and do not force anything. Remember that having excellent content on your own site is the best incentive for any webmaster to link to your site. Do not make the mistake of chasing after links while neglecting the content of your site.

We have all heard the real estate slogan: “Location! Location! Location!”. Well, if that is the slogan of the real estate industry then “Content! Content! Content!” is certainly the slogan for all webmasters. Maybe I should rather say it SHOULD BE the slogan for all webmasters…Unfortunately many webmasters are only focusing on how they can make more money instead of providing visitors to their website with good content.

I recently heard that more than 40% of all people with an internet business have only been online for no longer than 6 months. I am not sure about the exact percentage but I can believe that 40%+ is not far away from the truth.

One thing is for sure: Many people start an internet business believing they are going to make a fortune online within a very short period of time. The reality is that very few people actually achieve any sort of online success, especially in the first six months. The result is a constant stream of new webmasters and a constant outflow of disillusioned webmasters.

Most newcomers are totally disillusioned with the internet after only a couple of weeks or months. They often fall prey to unscrupulous dealers that sell them expensive programs “guaranteed” to make them succeed on the internet. Most of these programs do not work and they leave with the bitter taste in their mouths of being conned.

Do the statistics prove that one should not attempt to make money online or that the internet is a big hoax? No, they prove that people give us too soon. They prove that people have unrealistic expectations. They prove that people do not acquire enough knowledge before embarking on an online business.

What are the most common mistakes?

Think about it logically. Put yourself in the shoes of a visitor. Most people search the internet looking for information (content). The search engines know this and reward unique content websites by indexing them more favorably than poorly constructed websites, websites with very little content or duplicate websites. There are millions of websites on the net. I am sorry, but if a visitor runs a search for a keyword such as “business opportunity” and your site is number 99,000,000 of 100,000,000 then you are never going to get any visitors. Accept it.

What can you do? The first and most important step you can take is to ensure that your website has good content. Write about something you know and are passionate about. If you struggle to write one page about a certain topic then rather forget about it. You should be able to write many pages of relevant content that other people would like to read. Try to remain original and focus on unique content.

There are many things you can do to improve your website in the future by making it more attractive to your visitors as well as the search engines. However, there is really nothing you can do to improve a website with poor content until you do something to improve the content.

After a while, they just tune out. Or, if they don't tune-out, consumers are often so distracted that they don't really hear or see a marketing message.

It's more effective to send three mailers to 1,000 prospects than one mailer to 3,000though the cost is the same. Another approach is a "timed" or "sequenced" campaign.

In this kind of campaign, message #1 is a teaser. #2 is the "guts" and a gift offer. #3 gives ordering instructions. The sequenced approach allows you to generate both expectations and recognition.

Prospects look forward to hearing from you.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you need to keep hammering away at the eyes and ears of potential prospects. But the main reason for this many not be as obvious as you think...

By repeating your marketing message over and over, you "imbed" that message in the consumer's mind. Then, when the consumer needs what you have to offer, they'll think of you first... even if aren't actively marketing to them in the moment.

The goal is to make yourself the automatic go-to solution for a problem whenever that problem occurs. The consumer's sub-conscious will do the driving.

Apprentice Marketing Lesson #2 - Sex Sells, But Too Much Sex Repels

The candidates chosen for "The Apprentice" are uniformly attractive, articulate, and the kind of people that most other people enjoy looking at.

The producers of the show -- including Mark Burnett who produces that other mega-hit "Survivor" -- know that sex sells on television.

Sex sells in marketing, too.

During the second season of "The Apprentice" when "The Donald" pitted the men against the women, tasks were routinely won thanks to sex appeal... women's AND men's.

(You may recall that the men's team used one of their attractive members to flirt with and win over a table of gay diners during a restaurant challenge.)

But if you weren't watching closely, you might have missed the episode where sex didn't sell -- big time... and THAT is the point of this mini-lesson.

In one of the last episodes of the second season, candidates were challenged to sell candy.

On one team, two blonde women donned matching red leotards and flashed -- their smiles only -- at male prospects.

Sales were brisk because, as we all know, sex sells... and for most men there's nothing sexier than a leggy blonde.

The other team was struggling, so with just minutes to spare before the end of a task, one team member offered to drop her skirt as a way to convince male passersby to buy her candy.

They bought... in droves.

They weren't buying candy, of course, they were buying sex... just like the guy who finds a car suddenly irresistible because of the leggy swimsuit model that's advertising it at the Auto Show... and just like the guys who bought from the blonde "twins" on the other team.

The problem with the "buy my candy and you can see my buns" approach is that it was over the top.

As "The Donald" pointed out in the boardroom, the candidate wasn't selling candy... she was selling sex literally, with a candy bar bonus.

That, my friends, is why so many marketers are referred to as prostitutes... and why the candidate who dropped her skirt was dropped from the show at the end of the task.

As "The Donald" put it so eloquently: You're fired!

The skirt-dropping candidate was fired despite the fact that she had fulfilled her mission -- to make money. Why? By over-selling sexuality, she left a negative over-all impression.

Sex is powerful stuff…use it wisely and sparingly.

Apprentice Marketing Secret #3: Cross-Promotion

I've talked about this concept until I am blue in the face, but I still meet prospective clients who stubbornly say, "My product is such a winner that I don't need to partner with other businesses and give away any of my profits."

That's insane!

Or more delicately "No man is an island"…and no business is either. There's not a company on earth that can survive without a constant stream of qualified prospects coming through the door.

So it doesn't matter what industry you're in or what product/service you make available, whoever you are...

Tying your product to another popular product, service, business, or person is always a winning marketing strategy.

"The Apprentice" has featured cross-promotions with Burger King, Pepsi, the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain, and other well-know, extremely successful businesses.

If these super-corporations benefit from cross-promotions, doesn't it seem logical that your business can, too?

The biggest trend in high-end marketing today is film and TV cross- promotions. Ever since E.T. gave Reese's Pieces a huge boost, marketers have aggressively tried to get their products "placed" in films and television shows.

Having a good product or service is NOT enough... although it's certainly "Job 1." Quality and value bring your customers back for more. But how the heck do they do how wonderful your stuff is if they haven't even bought from you yet?

In order to make a sale, you need someone you can sell to. To achieve that you need effective marketing systems to get these people in your funnel in the first place.

Cross-promotion is the key.

Customers who are already "sold" on the business your partnering with become, essentially, pre-sold on you.

And cross-promotion allows you to expand your marketing reach without spending any additional marketing dollars.

What did "The Donald" get out of all of this? In addition to finding a company willing to let his apprentices take over their business for the day, consumers will now "think Trump" when they purchase one of the burgers promoted on the show.

Everyone in online marketing or affiliate earning for a income have to research all over the internet to get the information they need to succeed.
